Miami Leader Elected District Vice President of Florida Realtors
Miami, FL (PRWEB) April 25, 2016 -- Coral Gables Realtor Christina Pappas is one of 13 district vice presidents serving in the leadership of Florida Realtors®, the state’s largest professional association. The 31-year-old Pappas, who chaired the MIAMI Association of REALTORS® Young Professionals leadership council last year, was elected District Four vice president and is one of the youngest to ever hold the position.
District Four encompasses Realtor associations in Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys, and is the largest in the state. With more than 43,000 members in her district, Pappas is working to increase Realtor community involvement and REALTORS® Political Action Committee effectiveness. RPAC investments support candidates and issues important to the real estate profession, buyers and sellers.
“Realtors are the heart of the community,” said Pappas, who is the assistant district sales manager for The Keyes Company. “With the great numbers we have at the MIAMI Association of REALTORS® and the three Keys boards, we have such a great opportunity to show our consumers, Florida and the world how much we want to help our local communities.”
A chief Pappas goal is increasing the district’s support of the “Support Homeownership for All” license plate. The Florida Realtors specialty license plate is available online, by mail or at your county tax collector’s office. The license plate costs an additional $25 (beyond the state's fees for a tag). Proceeds from the sale of the license plate benefit affordable housing programs. The goal is to provide housing assistance to teachers, nurses and others unable to afford a home.
More than 28,400 license plates have been sold, amounting to more than $710,000. About $430,000 have been awarded to affordable housing programs around the state.
“There are 155,000 Realtors in Florida, and what if 50,000 bought the license plate this year?” Pappas said. “Imagine how much we could help if we collectively came together.”
The annual District Four Conference — which will include a legislative update from Margy Grant, the vice president/general counsel of law and policy for Florida Realtors — will be June 1-3 in Key West.
Pappas’ Realtor background, achievements
Pappas has spent the last 19 months leading the rebranding of Keyes’ 90-year-old business. New colors, logo and marketing materials for Keyes were released March 18.
Pappas started working for her father and cousins as a Realtor at The Keyes Company in 2011. She had a successful hospitality career in Los Angeles before deciding to join the family business. As a third generation Realtor, Pappas’ real estate blood runs deep. In 2011, her grandfather and the chairman of The Keyes Company and past MIAMI board president Ted Pappas passed away. Pappas did not want to lose any more time not working with family and moved back to Miami to start her Realtor career.
Pappas attended Westminster Christian School in Miami before going to Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. She graduated from the School of Hotel Administration in 2007 and then went to work in sales for the Viceroy Hotel Group in Los Angeles.
Pappas has already several notable achievements on her Realtor resume. She was named The Keyes Company Rookie of the Year in 2012. She was also picked as the Women’s Council of Realtors Rising Star in 2013. Pappas has helped to create a top producing office in Coral Gables, increasing per person productivity to the highest it has been in years. In 2015, Pappas earned MIAMI YPN of the Year.
Pappas is integral in The Keyes’ young professionals and millennial initiative. She is working to change how Keyes markets to customers and agents – and to increase agent production for those under 40 years old from 15 percent of the company’s business to 25 percent in the next five years.
