Michael Haneline, DC, MPH, Joins University of Western States as Director of Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine
Portland, OR (PRWEB) October 08, 2013 -- The University of Western States (UWS), a leader in the education of health care professionals, announced that Michael Haneline, DC, MPH, has joined the administration as director of the Master of Science degree program in human nutrition and functional medicine (MSHNFM). Dr. Haneline will be responsible for overseeing the program’s curriculum, development, operations, budget and personnel.

MS in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine Program
The online MSHNFM Master of Science degree program is available to students who have an undergraduate or first professional degree. The program enables students to gain expertise in clinical nutrition which has essential applications in public health, preventive medicine and all aspects of clinical medicine including pediatrics, geriatrics, gastroenterology, physical medicine, neurology, internal medicine, rheumatology, cardiology and family medicine. About Dr. Michael Haneline
Before joining UWS, Dr. Haneline spent five years in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with the International Medical University developing and implementing their chiropractic program. He has also served as a professor at Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, Calif., and as an associate director for the Spine Research Institute of San Diego. After graduating from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and a doctor of chiropractic degree, Dr. Haneline spent the next 30 years operating private chiropractic practices in California, Idaho and Colorado.
Dr. Haneline also holds a master’s degree in public health from Independence University in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is the author of the most utilized text on evidence-based chiropractic practice, and co-editor of the first text on public health for the chiropractic profession. In addition, he has authored dozens of articles, research reports and whitepapers. He was recently elected chair-elect of the Chiropractic Health Care section of the American Public Health Association.
