Michael Soppeland’s Newly Released “The Joy of the Lord Is My Strength” is a Collection of Thoughtful Essays Prefaced by a Song With a Spiritual Truth
MEADVILLE, Pa. (PRWEB) May 02, 2018 -- “The Joy of the Lord Is My Strength”: a vibrant and music-filled collection of essays about life. “The Joy of the Lord Is My Strength” is the creation of published author Michael Soppeland, a semiretired Lutheran pastor in Iowa, Wisconsin, who has written hundreds of articles for his church, has served on numerous boards and committees, and whose first book, “The Weary Pilgrim,” was published in 2016.
Soppeland contemplates, “Every morning, when a person gets out of bed, how would it feel if there were ten thousand people ready and willing—after one gets up and showers, that is—to yell their name and cheer them on for the day, to let them know that they are loved and that there is a whole bunch of folks wanting them to do their best and have a wonderful and meaningful day? That person would want to do their best on the job. They would want to find their sense of place in the world. They would better understand themselves and the world in which they live. They would be more loving and caring to those with whom they live. The phrase in the song ‘hopin’ and prayin’ for someone to care, always movin’ and goin’ nowhere’ is truly the definition of love. To say to someone ‘I deeply care about you and what you do’ is the same or nearly the same as saying ‘I love you.’ Love is an action word. As we are told over and over again, it is not a feeling, though wonderful when it is.”
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Michael Soppeland’s new book is a joyful and richly introspective look at life through the eyes of a Christian with the sensitivities of a music-lover, as the author delves into the timeless topics that prevail in many of the most enduring songs of all time.
Titled after the Bible verse Nehemiah 8:10, Soppeland shows how one can brave through life’s challenges with song and dance, as the ancient Israelites had.
