Middlesex Hospital Chooses Access to Integrate Electronic Patient Forms with Cerner’s EHR
Sulphur Springs, Texas (PRWEB) September 15, 2015 -- Middlesex Hospital began its journey toward achieving a full electronic health record (EHR) more than 10 years ago. The legacy electronic forms system became difficult to manage and did not fit into the hospital’s vision of an intuitive, easy to support paperless environment. To improve its e-forms strategy, Middlesex Hospital chose to partner with Access, the leading provider of web-based forms and patient electronic signatures.
“Access’s relationship and integration with Cerner was important to us,” said Karen Kohler, Director of Information Systems/CNIO at Middlesex Hospital. “The Access system will enable us to consolidate our forms, standardize processes and streamline workflows, making things easier for patients and staff.”
As it converts its existing e-forms, Middlesex Hospital will begin using the Access suite to manage face sheets and patient armbands. The second phase of the project will involve transitioning consent and other patient registration forms.
“We still have a fair number of paper processes and Access will help us transition these to electronic workflows,” Kohler said. “This will make it easier for our staff to access forms-based patient data.”
For the busy Information Systems department at Middlesex, choosing the right vendor is as important as selecting the best system. Kohler is confident in Middlesex Hospital’s decision to partner with Access.
“Everyone at Access has been very accommodating and forthcoming,” she said. “They’re working hard to tailor the e-forms solution to our requirements.”
