Midland IRA Hosts Lunch and Learn for Real Estate Investors
(PRWEB) February 18, 2016 -- Midland IRA is a self-directed retirement plan administrator that gives clients the option to invest in alternative assets, such as real estate, along with being qualified intermediaries who facilitate 1031 exchanges. Midland IRA is holding a lunch and learn on February 25 on tax strategies for real estate investors.
There are a couple of different tax-saving strategies attendees can expect to learn at this luncheon. The first is investing in real estate using a self-directed IRA. Many investors are not aware that real estate can be held in a retirement account, but the IRS does allow it. Using an IRA to invest in these assets offers great tax saving benefits since all income and expenses flow through the tax-sheltered account. All types of property qualify to be held in an IRA; this includes single-family homes, commercial property, lots, tax liens, multi-family homes, and trust deeds.
Another tax saving strategy to be discussed during the lunch and learn is one that is performed outside of an IRA. A 1031 exchange is a strategic way to purchase investment or business-use real estate by exchanging one property for another. According to Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code, it is one of the last great tax shelters. One advantage of a 1031 exchange is that all capital gains, depreciation recapture tax, health, and state taxes are deferred.
“This class details real estate in an IRA versus 1031 exchanges, as well as the differences of each tax-sheltered investment transaction,” says Dave Owens, president of Midland IRA. Midland IRA is holding this lunch and learn on tax strategies in Fort Myers, Florida.
