Midland Truck Accident Lawyers File Wrongful Death Suit Against Byrd Oilfield Services Following Fatal Accident
Midland, Texas (PRWEB) September 12, 2013 -- Following a fatal truck accident, the Midland truck accident attorneys of Grossman Law Offices filed a wrongful death suit against Byrd Oilfield Services, LLC and its driver, Mr. James McDuffee.
The suit, styled Dube v. McDuffee et al., [CV13 - 04 - 348], was filed in Wise County on April 16, 2013. The suit alleges that "suddenly, and without warning, Defendant McDuffee began changing lanes into the side of Mr. Dube's 2007 Toyota Yaris. Mr. Dube swerved to the left, in order to avoid being crushed by Defendant McDuffee's vehicle. Mr. Dube lost control of his vehicle as it left the roadway, crossed the median, and crashed head-on into a 2005 Toyota Camry traveling the opposite direction." Mr. Dube died as a result of the accident, as did the driver of the other car.
The lawsuit's filing attorney Keith Purdue noted, “Lawsuits like this, I hope, will help to highlight the fact that not all industrial traffic in Midland is good for the area. There's no denying that the oil boom has brought economic benefits to the community, but at some point the citizens of Midland-Odessa need to draw a line in the sand and say, 'Yes, we want industry, but we expect and demand a reasonable level of safety as well.'"
Purdue continued, "Trucking is one of America's most heavily regulated industries because tragedies like this don't have to happen. When truckers and their employers follow the simple safety regulations, no one gets injured or loses their life. We hope that this lawsuit will not only recover the compensation our clients need and deserve, but also serve as a warning to future drivers and their employers to follow the rules of the road."
