Mike Keliher, a Founder of "Go Blue Then and Now" Joins Kicking For The Dream’s Effort to Fight Against Ovarian Cancer
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) October 27, 2013 -- Mike Keliher, one of the founders of affinity social network community "Go Blue Then and Now" has joined Kicking For The Dream effort to fight against ovarian cancer according to Kicking For The Dream founder NFL kicker Billy Cundiff.
Keliher, a lawyer who has a background of helping charitable foundations, says he joined the Kicking For The Dream’s effort because he is friends with Billy and Nicole Cundiff and because he knows what losing a loved one to cancer is like.
"I met Billy through reaching out to him on Linked In," says Keliher. "I recalled Billy from his early years as a Dallas Cowboy. Because I work with other athletes on a pro bono basis to help with foundations, I reached out to see if he had one and needed some help."
And according to Cundiff, Keliher's help was not only appreciated, but it was instrumental in getting Colleen's Dream Foundation to be more than a dream.
"Mike was instrumental in getting Colleen's Dream off the ground," says Cundiff. "He really helped early in our existence and we are forever grateful."
Cundiff adds, "I am honored that Mike is participating in Kicking For The Dream. I love how he is using our platform."

Kicking For The Dream was created by Cundiff in 2013 as a way to unite the football kicking community in raising funds and awareness about ovarian cancer. All funds raised by Kicking For The Dream go to support Colleen’s Dream Foundation which in turn funds cutting edge ovarian cancer research.
Colleen’s Dream Foundation was inspired by Cundiff’s mother-in-law Colleen Drury, who passed in 2013 of ovarian cancer.
Keliher says that at the time he met Cundiff, Colleen’s Dream Foundation was in its formative state.
"I was blessed by the chance to meet Colleen Drury (via teleconference)," says Keliher. "Colleen, like my father had before, accepted that she had cancer and was living her life to the fullest including working towards helping spread visibility about ovarian cancer."
Keliher says he will continue raising money and awareness for Kicking For The Dream through his social media network Go Blue Then and Now which is built on the support of Michigan sports fans.
"Go Blue Then and Now is an affinity social network community that unites Michigan sports fans and creates visibility for charitable and community service efforts by University of Michigan coaches and player alumni," says Keliher. "My goal is to assist Kicking For The Dream financially through our "Support Michigan Kickers" sponsorship and to use my extensive social network to create visibility for Colleen’s Dream Foundation."

About Kicking For The Dream:
Billy Cundiff, who is the kicker for the Cleveland Browns, and has been an NFL kicker for over 10 years for teams such as the Cowboys, Saints, Ravens and Redskins, launched Kicking For The Dream in May of 2013, as an effort to support Colleen’s Dream Foundation, a foundation which raises money to support research for the early detection of, and improved treatment for, ovarian cancer.
About Colleen's Dream Foundation:
Colleen’s Dream Foundation started in 2012 and supports research for early detection and improved treatment for ovarian cancer.
The story of Colleen’s Dream started in 2007 when Billy Cundiff’s mother-in-law, Colleen Drury, was diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer. It was only then that Colleen and her family realized a new world that was filled with invasive surgery, harsh chemotherapy, and lots of uncertainty.
Ovarian cancer is often referred to as "the silent killer" because many women do not discover their disease until it is in the late stages, which leads to many women succumbing to the disease within a short period of time. Unlike cervical or breast cancer, ovarian cancer does not have a standardized early detection procedure. When it comes to women’s health, ovarian cancer proves to be one of the deadliest diseases.
Colleen’s Dream Foundation believes it is important to raise money for research that will lead to reliable early detection testing and improved treatment for ovarian cancer. Because so little is known about ovarian cancer in proportion to other women’s health issues, we have an incredible opportunity for research and education.
Colleen’s Dream is working with some of the top research hospitals and universities that are researching ovarian cancer. By offering seed funding to young investigators, the Foundation funds cutting-edge research by some of the brightest, young minds in the world.
Colleen’s Dream Foundation is a qualified 501 (c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization based in Phoenix, Arizona.
