Ft. Belvoir, VA (USA) (PRWEB) March 08, 2016 -- CAMMO is seeking volunteer performers to be a part of a mass chorus who will sing in a spectacular segment of the two-hour television live broadcast . The Chorus will perform the Invictus Anthem, which was adapted by Chris Martin of Coldplay in 2014 from the historic poem “Invictus” by William Earnest Henley, and is the anthem of these Games.
The Invictus Games began in 2014 in London as the brainchild of Britain’s Prince Harry. The five-day international multi-sport adaptive event embraces respect for the world’s Armed Forces and is meant to show support for those who have sacrificed so much in service. Over 500 athletes from 14 nations will be drawn from active duty service members and veterans who became wounded, injured or sick during their service and who compete to promote sport as part of their recovery and rehabilitation. The Games have the support of the White House and the U.S. Department of Defense.
“This is an amazing opportunity,” said Victor Hurtado, CAMMO co-founder and chief creative director. “These games give singers an opportunity to perform with fellow military members, represent their country, communities and local military bases, and help CAMMO and the Invictus Foundation continue their work with service member and veteran artists and athletes,” he added.
Participants are not required to read music; those cast will be afforded various tools and ways to learn their vocal part and they must be able to attend rehearsals on May 5-7, as well as the performance on May 8. Additional rehearsals for Orlando-based performers will be conducted on April 30 and May 1.
Applicants must be willing to show their DD214 or active duty identification, and they must provide information for a background check. In addition, this is a strictly volunteer opportunity: participants are expected to provide their own transportation and accommodations.
