MilitaryConnection.com Lends Support for Petition Signatures to Aid the Disabled
Simi Valley, CA (PRWEB) June 23, 2017 -- Military Connection friend and veteran advocate Micaela Bensko and her service dog, Blue Belle, were recently denied entry to the JFK Virgin Atlantic lounge.
Bensko is no stranger to the plight of the disabled. Before an injury forced her into a wheelchair six years ago, Bensko dedicated her life to supporting our wounded veterans. A world-class photographer, her riveting photos “The Wounds of War, Portraits of Our Wounded” were on exhibit at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
Bensko is a founder and Vice President of Rebuilding America's Warriors (R.A.W.), formerly known as IRAQ Star, a non-profit organization that provides free reconstructive surgery to severely wounded troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Military Connection CEO Debbie Gregory has worked with Bensko and her organization for more than a decade, and is joining her effort to amass 100,000 signatures in thirty days to propose legislation mandating airline and service corporations properly train their employees as to ADA & Service Dog rules and regulations.
“Our work within the military and veteran communities has made us familiar with the special needs of the disabled, and the daily challenges they face,” said Gregory. “This petition can create much needed change so that we, as a country, can aid the disabled community and improve the quality of their lives.”
