Miller Canfield Expands Chicago Office with Lateral Hires from Kubasiak, Fylstra, Thorpe & Rotunno
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 05, 2015 -- The law firm of Miller Canfield announces that it is expanding its Chicago office again with the addition of 10 lawyers from Chicago-based corporate law firm, Kubasiak, Fylstra, Thorpe & Rotunno, P.C.
“We first expanded to Chicago eight years ago. Chicago is a strategic priority based on client needs and continues to be a key market in our business growth plan as the largest economic and financial center in the Midwest,” said Michael McGee, CEO of Miller Canfield. “We expect more additions in 2015.”
Joining Miller Canfield from Kubasiak, Fylstra, Thorpe & Rotunno are name shareholders Gerald E. Kubasiak, Raymond A. Fylstra and Steven J. Rotunno, together with shareholder David S. Schaffer. In addition, attorneys Noël P. Goudreau, Barry P. Kaltenbach, Manuel J. Placencia, Jr., Gretchen M. Kubasiak, Fredric B. “Rick” Prohov, and Samuel H. Levine will join Miller Canfield.
The new additions join three other hires in Chicago this year: environmental lawyer Lawrence W. Falbe from Quarles & Brady, higher education lawyer LaKeisha C. Marsh from TCS Education System and labor lawyer Amy J. Zdravecky from Franczek Radelet.

Kubasiak, who will be co-managing principal of Miller Canfield’s Chicago office, added that his firm has spoken to about a dozen firms in recent years about combinations. “They each offered a larger platform. However the platform offered by Miller Canfield consisted of the right skill levels, the right practice areas and the right geography. It’s a great fit. We believe this combination offers us the opportunity to achieve everyone’s ultimate goal of making 1 plus 1 equal 3,” he said.
