Milton Roy’s New Mobile App Maximizes Efficiency and Uptime for Solaroy Solar-Powered Metering Pumps
Pittsburgh Pennsylvania (PRWEB) June 23, 2015 -- Milton Roy, the world’s largest manufacturer of controlled-volume metering pumps, and a brand of Accudyne Industries, today announced a new mobile app for the SOLAROY® solar-powered metering pump. The app, which runs on Apple phones, iPads, Android, and Windows-based mobile phones enables users to select and apply the right-sized solar pump to address their specific requirements and to ensure the autonomous operation of pumps around the clock in any environment or weather condition.
Milton Roy is demonstrating the Solaroy solar-powered pump and the hand-held app this week in Booth #308, at the Developing Unconventionals (DUG East) Conference and Expo, taking place June 23-25 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh.
Solaroy solar-powered chemical injection pumps are designed to operate in harsh environments and remote locations where traditional sources of electrical power are not available. Solar panels are used to charge batteries which power the metering pumps to deliver corrosion inhibitors and other chemicals that improve flow and enhance product recovery for shale oil and gas extraction.
The new Solaroy hand-held app helps customers select the right metering pump for their specific application. It uses customer input to take the guess work out of selecting the right sized solar panels and batteries. By entering the location site, the preferred flow and pressure, the required days of autonomy, and the required hours per day of operation (particularly in winter months), the Solaroy app calculates the correct solar panel size and the number of batteries needed to ensure the continuous operation of the pump in an independent mode.
“With solar-powered pumps, sizing panel and battery resources is the single biggest issue, because once the sun goes down, if the batteries haven’t been fully charged, the pump may stop operating until the sun comes up the next morning,” said Coogan Cameron, SOLAROY Global Product Line Manager for Milton Roy. “With the Solaroy app, we’ve taken all the guess work out of the selection process for the end user, and we’ve made it easy for operators to maximize output by ensuring that the pump is always operating in an autonomous fashion, around the clock, regardless of the weather.”
This week’s DUG East conference will discuss how the shale play in the United States continues to expand, particularly in the Marcellus Shale region, which is estimated to contain more than 140 Trillion Cubic Feet (TCF) of recoverable gas. Because many of these reserves sit in the heavily wooded and mountainous Appalachian Basin, it is difficult, expensive, and in some cases impractical to run electricity into these areas, making solar the preferred source for power.
In addition to providing peace-of-mind that solar and battery resources are being properly managed, the Solaroy app also provides users with a valuable tool for calculating “what-if” scenarios, that help them understand the impact that items such as stroke rate, stroke length, or operation in duplex mode will have on battery life. This data eliminates guesswork and helps to optimize efficiency and reliability, which is critical for equipment operating autonomously in remote, inaccessible locations.
Anyone interested in seeing the Solaroy metering pump and the new mobile app should stop by booth #308 at this week’s DUG East Convention and Expo.
