Minitab Experts to Present at Institute of Industrial Engineers Annual Conference
State College, Pa. (PRWEB) May 13, 2014 -- Businesses hire industrial and systems engineers to develop and optimize complex processes, and also to assess the stability, predictability, and consistency of those processes. In order to be effective at their jobs, industrial engineers must stay keen on the different methodologies and tools being taught and used in their field.
To help industrial and systems engineers attending the Institute of Industrial Engineers Conference improve the methodologies they use to analyze data in real-time, Christopher Greene from Rochester Institute of Technology will present “Using Minitab to Streamline Data Analysis” on June 2, 2014 at the Palais des Congrés de Montréal. His talk will cover research that has been done into the effective methodologies for performing data analysis for decision making.
Greene, an assistant professor of manufacturing and mechanical engineering at RIT, will discuss the results of this research, including programs and subroutines in the form of macros written to optimize data analysis.
“The research performed here can be used in classroom settings or in industry training sessions as an instructional tool in a statistics, quality, or data analysis,” says Greene.
In addition, Brandon Theiss from Rutgers University will present “Teaching Tactical Industrial Engineering to High School Students” on June 3, 2014 at the Palais des Congrés de Montréal. Theiss’s presentation will feature a case study on how high school students attending the Rutgers Governor’s School of Engineering were taught engineering and how they used the skills they learned to perform a real-world industrial engineering project.
“In this project, four students worked onsite with a high volume manufacturer to improve their manufacturing process,” Theiss says. “I’ll talk about how Six Sigma was effectively taught to a novice group of students, and how partnerships between industry and academia can be mutually beneficial in focusing and refining STEM education.”
