Minitab Quality Improvement Expert to Present at IIE Engineering Lean and Six Sigma Conference
State College, Pa. (PRWEB) September 10, 2013 -- In an age where Lean Six Sigma and other data-driven quality improvement methods save companies millions, practitioners have become acutely aware of the need to keep their Lean, Six Sigma, and statistical skills sharp.
To help Lean and Six Sigma practitioners in engineering, attending the IIE Engineering Lean and Six Sigma Conference to learn new skills and refresh their knowledge, Minitab statistician and senior business development representative Joel Smith will present "A Perfect 10! Or is it? Evaluating Non-Standard Measurement Systems Using the Olympics" on Wednesday, September 25 at 10:05 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza at Ravinia in Atlanta.
Most statisticians, Lean and Six Sigma practitioners, and quality professionals know to evaluate their measurement system before making any decisions based on their data. “This is, of course, because we want to trust the data and the information it gives us,” says Smith.
In his presentation, Smith will discuss examples of how to analyze measurement systems and then how to explain the topic to a quality improvement team.
“I’ll use judging results from Olympic events to show how to evaluate measurement systems more robustly using general linear models in place of Gage R&R,” says Smith. “We’ll also discuss if the statistics say whether or not the Olympic judges are doing a good job.”
Minitab representatives will be on hand throughout the conference, as well as during the event’s expo, September 24-25 at the Crowne Plaza – Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia. Attendees are invited to visit the Minitab booth (# 9) to learn more about the company’s products and services, which also include training, statistical mentoring and free technical support.
Conference participants can connect with Minitab during the event and keep up-to-date with conference happenings on Twitter.
