Mirabel Golf Club’s Hope For The Cause Event Donates More Than $1.2 Million For Cancer Research
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) July 16, 2015 -- Mirabel, which has been recognized as one of the best private golf clubs in the United States, recently held its 7th Annual Hope for the Cause Charity Classic. The Hope for the Cause is a series of events that helps to raise awareness and funds that benefit the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center Clinical Trials program at the HonorHealth Research Institute. The events raised $285,000 and Mirabel presented a check to the HonorHealth Research Institute in May. Over the course of seven years, Hope for the Cause, with help from Mirabel residents and club members, has donated more than $1.2 million.
Since 2009, Mirabel residents, members and friends have come together each March to help raise money through a program of events, including a Physicians’ Panel, a 5K run/walk, men's and women's golf tournaments and a reception with live and silent auctions.
The HonorHealth Research Institute has become one of the leading research programs in the nation focused on personalized medicine to fight the war against cancer. Renowned cancer researcher, Dr. Daniel Von Hoff, leads the Cancer Clinical Trials Program.
“I want to offer my deepest appreciation on behalf of all of our patients, their families and our entire medical staff on this milestone event when Mirabel will surpass more than $1 million in contributions,” said Mark Slater, vice president of HonorHealth Research Institute. “To say, ‘thanks a million,’ is an understatement of all that they have done. This is a significant investment and also a true demonstration of their belief and trust in us.”
In recognition of Mirabel surpassing the $1 million donation level, HonorHealth dedicated the bridge that connects the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center to the Research Institute and it will now be known as the “Mirabel – Pathway to Cure” bridge.
“To see the looks of hope, happiness and appreciation on the faces of those getting treatments is something I will never forget. It made me reflect on one of Mirabel’s most important values, that of commitment to our community,” said Victor Springer, Mirabel Club President. “I saw up close and personal what all the time, effort and resulting funds can help accomplish for people who are suffering and looking for a cure for their disease. We all wonder what we can do to make a difference – well we have!”
