Miss America 2015 Kira Kazantsev Takes On Role as Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals National Goodwill Ambassador
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) September 17, 2014 -- Sunday night saw the crowning of Miss America 2015 Kira Kazantsev and ushered in a new national spokesperson for why children’s hospitals need charitable support. As Miss America Organization’s official national platform, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is welcoming Kazantsev as its newest National Goodwill Ambassador.
Kazantsev’s year in service will see her at member Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the U.S., visiting with patients and learning how locally donated funds are providing medical equipment, programs, research and charitable care.
On Nov. 9, Kazantsev will gather in Washington, D.C. with the 52 Champion ambassadors of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, meeting a child from each state as they embark on a weeklong Ambassador Tour through the nation’s capital and Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Following the “Champions” week, Kazantsev will spend the next year supporting the charity’s many national fundraising campaigns and events.

The Miss America Organization’s partnership with CMN Hospitals also extends to all young women competing at the local, state and national levels of the competition. As part of its service initiative, the Miss America Organization requires each participating contestant to raise funds on behalf of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the Miss America Scholarship Program. The efforts have resulted in more than $10 million raised since 2007.
As part of the Miss America competition proceedings in Atlantic City, five Miracle Maker Awards were presented for exceptional fundraising at the state level. Contestants Miss South Carolina Lanie Hudson (awarded $5,000), Miss Georgia Maggie Bridges (awarded $3,000) and Miss Louisiana Lacey Sanchez (awarded $2,000) received scholarships for individual fundraising, while the Miss South Carolina and Miss District of Columbia organizations received scholarship awards for highest amount raised and highest average raised, respectively.
