Miss Colombia Given New Opportunity To Compete for $50,000 in Upcoming Las Vegas International Model Search After Mistakenly Crowned As Wrong Winner at Miss Universe
Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) December 22, 2015 -- James Gibson, President and CEO of the Las Vegas Model Search International (LVMSI) http://www.lvmsi.com, announced today that the reigning Miss Colombia Universe would be accepted directly into their upcoming 2016 $50,000 model search and LVIMS has waived the standard process of acceptance and registration for the event. Gibson has been associated with Miss Universe Organization on many fronts for more than 3 decades. He was instrumental in Trump’s initial purchase of the Miss Universe Organization and served as Trump’s Director of Pageant Affairs. Gibson left the Organization and created his highly successful Las Vegas International Model Search, hosted at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas Nevada. LVIMS has awarded more than $200,000 to a vast array of international competitors from all over the world in cash prizes over its short two year history.
“I’ve been in this industry for over 35 years” Gibson stated. “I understand the immense amount of emotions these ladies put into such a competition.” He continued, “When I saw the mix-up with the wrong winner crowned, my heart went out to both Miss Colombia as well as Miss Philippines. I’ve hosted 1500 such live events over my long career, many broadcast on live television including the Miss Universe Presentation telecast on Telemundo from Puerto Rico. Fortunately I’ve never made such a painful mistake but understand how easily it could happen if you're not careful. Steve Harvey is a good man and great talent but this time he came up short and in the process damaged confidence in Miss Universe.”
Jim Gibson recalls discussing the spectacle of Miss Columbia being asked to give the crown to Miss Philippines with Hank Cohen, former President of MGM –TV and current owner of Trifecta Entertainment, who told Gibson it was “One of the worst moments on live TV I’ve ever seen…..after seeing it I actually feel equally sorry for both girls! Just brutal,” and it was then that Gibson decided to do something about it.
“My hope is that somehow something positive comes out of this mind-boggling blunder,” Gibson continued. “Perhaps having Miss Colombia compete in our event with the chance of winning $25,000 or more. LVIMS has given more than $200,000 to LVIMS winning contestants over the past 18 months and a modeling contract, which could be a part of that positive outcome. There is no doubt that Ariadna Gutierrez is a stunningly beautiful young woman. Her career remains bright if she can put this behind her and shine.”
