Missions in Motion International Ministries Launches Fundraising Shoe Drive to Raise Funds, Support Microenterprise in Developing Nations and Help the Environment
Hamilton, OH (PRWEB) September 18, 2013 -- Missions in Motion International Ministries in partnership with Praisefest Ministries is launching its Shoes for H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Excel) shoe collection drive September 21 to raise funds for Mission in Motion and Praisefest’s outreach opportunities and disaster relief efforts while also benefiting microenterprise ventures in developing nations and keeping old shoes out of local landfills. Individuals can help by donating at Missions in Motion headquarters, 332 Dayton Street, Suite 210, Hamilton, Ohio, as well as other drop off locations, listed below.
In the US alone, approximately 630 million pairs of shoes are thrown away per year. The materials used to manufacture a pair of shoes are created from chemical compounds, the kind that will create health hazards if left to disintegrate openly or in landfills. By donating old shoes to the Missions in Motion Shoes for H.O.P.E. program, what would have gone into landfills will be given a second chance to make a difference. All donated shoes will be redistributed through microenterprise partners and used in developing nations for impoverished people to start, maintain and grow an enterprise to feed, clothe and house their families.
“We are very excited to be conducting this shoe drive in the tri-state area”, notes Catherine Shupe, the co-founder and CEO of Missions in Motion, "This campaign will raise funds to further expand our mission opportunities and disaster relief efforts both locally and nationally; the additional advantages of this effort will prevent shoes from filling landfills, create commerce through micro enterprise, and sustain peoples’ lives, making this a win-win-win for everyone,” said Shupe. "Our goal is to collect 30,000 pairs of shoes and the only way we can do that is if people in tri-state rally together, so I am inviting everyone in our community to gather up their unwanted shoes and bring them to our drop off locations."
