Missouri’s Feral Hog Mobile Application Recipient of the 2013 Innovation Award
Richmond, VA (PRWEB) November 19, 2013 -- Timmons Group, a leading provider of geospatial and strategic planning services, is pleased to announce that the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Feral Hog Mobile Tracking Application has been presented with the Organization of Fish and Wildlife Manager’s (OFWIM) 2013 Innovation Award.
Timmons Group was responsible for the design and implementation of an easy-to-use mobile application supporting both iOS and Android systems. The new app will assist the state of Missouri with resolving several challenging issues with the management of feral hogs throughout the state. Specific features of the application include the ability to submit locations of feral hog sightings, identify accurate treatment methods, upload multiple photos of an observation, search within a particular proximity for observations, and submit data to a cloud-based hosted database for reporting, web mapping, cost savings and rapid development.
The basis of the award is to recognize individuals, agencies, and organizations with the advancement of fish and wildlife information technology or processes. Nominees were evaluated on their technical accomplishment, successes as it relates to their specified goals as well as the development of a sustainable partnership.

The Innovation Award was presented to the Missouri Department of Conservation in late September during the OFWIM 2013 Annual Conference and Business Meeting in Acadia, Maine.
