CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (PRWEB) December 19, 2016 -- MIT Professional Education announced today the expansion of its 2017 Short Programs. Business professionals around the globe can now register for three new courses debuting next summer, including:

Every year we examine the innovation and technology landscape, and introduce courses that are not only topical but where MIT knowledge and expertise can add substantial value to those attending the courses.

• Advanced Business Resiliency (June 19-23, 2017): Taught by MIT Professor Richard Larson and Dr. Steve Goldman, a world-renowned expert in crisis communications, disaster recovery and business continuity, this five-day course aims to address the urgent need to develop more resilient organizations and enable them to respond to a variety of threats. It is a follow-on to the MIT Professional Education — Short Programs course, Crisis Management and Business Continuity.

“Our objective is to help modern organizations develop a robust and adaptable crisis strategy that will enable them to cope with any sudden or unexpected situation,” said Dr. Goldman. “The advanced course was developed in response to strong demand from alumni of the basic course who now want more in-depth knowledge on key challenges and new threats, such as cyber security, supply chain, terrorism, disaster recovering, leadership and more.”

• People Analytics: Transforming Management with Behavioral Data (Jul 24-25, 2017): Led by MIT Professor Alex Pentland and Ben Waber, visiting scientist at the MIT Media Lab, this two-day session provides a foundation for using behavioral data to better understand how people work to help improve how organizations are managed.

“The same techniques that are used to mine consumer and industry data can also be applied to organizations to drive better people decisions,” said Waber, co-instructor and CEO of behavioral analytics firm, Humanyze. “Attendees will learn how to mine new data, such as e-mail, calendar information and instant messages, for answers to questions that can have a significant impact on business.”

• Advances in Computer-Aided Design for Manufacturing: (June 26-30, 2017): This one-week course will introduce basic concepts and cutting-edge developments in the world of computer-aided design (CAD) as it is applied to digital manufacturing. Instructors Wojciech Matusik and Justin Solomon will cover how CAD systems are built, how to use them effectively and explore the latest in digital manufacturing, such as additive manufacturing and 3D printing.

“New tools and manufacturing methods have revolutionized the way we approach modern design. This course offers engineers, developers and researchers the chance to experiment with state-of-the-art systems and learn how to apply them to help keep their companies at the technological cutting-edge,” said Wojciech, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT.

The new professional education offerings for 2017 complement over 50 existing Short Programs courses at MIT focusing on science, engineering, technology, real estate and more. Participants, technical and non-technical, learn from leading MIT faculty and gain crucial knowledge in a collaborative academic setting to help advance their careers or enhance their companies’ performance.

“The new additions to our Short Programs portfolio address topics currently in high demand in industry; every year, we examine the innovation and technology landscape, and introduce courses that are not only topical but where MIT knowledge and expertise can add substantial value to those attending the courses,” said Bhaskar Pant, MIT Professional Education’s executive director.

Short Programs run one-to-five days and take place on MIT’s campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts during the summer, providing the MIT experience in a condensed timeframe. Upon completion of a Short Programs course, participants receive an MIT Professional Education Certificate of Completion, continuing education units and access to MIT Professional Education’s expansive professional alumni network. For those seeking a more intensive experience on a single topic, there are also two Professional Certificate Programs: Innovation and Technology & Real Estate Finance and Development.

Registration is now open on the MIT Professional Education − Short Programs homepage.
