Mixed Roots Foundation Teams Up With USA Weekend & Legendary International Soccer Players Coach Tony Igwe & David Gold to ‘Make a Difference’ at Adoptee Day With SJ Earthquakes
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 11, 2013 -- The Mixed Roots Foundation proudly announces its partnership with USA Weekend in celebrating over 20 years of the ‘Make a Difference Day’ the largest national day of community service where millions of volunteers around the world unite in a common mission to improve the lives of others. ‘Make a Difference Day’ takes place every year on the fourth Saturday of October. This year, Mixed Roots Foundation invites all volunteers to ‘Make a Difference’ at its inaugural Adoptee Day with the MLS San Jose Earthquakes to help raise awareness and funds for more post adoption resources for adoptees and their families on Saturday, October, 26, 2013.
Mixed Roots Foundation will host a soccer clinic that will be led and co-sponsored by legendary international soccer pros now coaches and mentors Tony Igwe, 1968 Olympian and professor at Chabot College in Hayward and former coach/player of the San Jose Earthquakes and Founder of Go 4 Gold Soccer Schools, David Gold before the San Jose Earthquakes game and welcomes all individuals who want to make a difference to help volunteer and assist youth between the ages of 5-17 at the soccer clinic. The soccer clinic will take place from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at Chabot College’s soccer field in Hayward that will include basic 101 soccer skills and techniques, strength training and fitness activities and most importantly promoting healthy and active lifestyles and friendships.

Following the soccer clinic at 12:00 noon, Coach Tony Igwe and David Gold will host a pregame VIP reception for all of the participants and volunteers for Make a Difference Day at the Locatelli Center next to Buck Shaw Stadium at Santa Clara University. The VIP reception will include healthy snacks and beverages and an opportunity to meet and mingle with National Anthem singer and Korean adoptee Kimberly Michaels along with other local individuals, businesses and organizations that are making a difference in the community.
For individuals that attend the San Jose Earthquakes game at 2:30 p.m., a portion of all signature Adoptee Day tickets sold will benefit local community partners whose vision and mission align with providing more important post-adoption resources for adoptees and their families including Bay Area Mentoring, Post Adoption Center for Education and Research (PACER) and African Cradle.

About Coach Tony Igwe
As Chabot College's head soccer coach Tony Igwe, who leads all of the soccer programs including the Gladiators and Ambassadors, Igwe has dedicated much of his life to soccer. He represented his home country of Nigeria in the Mexico City Olympic Games, was a three-time All American at the University of San Francisco, and competed in the Professional American Soccer League. Before coming to Chabot, he was the Women’s Varsity Soccer Coach at Stanford University. Tony has a B.A. in Physical Education, an M.S.C. in Counseling, and an Advanced National Diploma from the NSCAA.
About David Gold
Former Coach and player for the San Jose Earthquakes, David has been operating his Go 4 Gold Soccer Schools for the past 20 years which is considered Northern California's Premier Soccer School that educates young boys and girls of all ages in a fun and positive environment in learning the game of soccer. David has a Master of Science degree in Physical Education and a Bachelors of Science in Sports Medicine and has served in multiple roles and has received several awards as coach and soccer player for various national and professional teams both locally and globally.
