Mizu Towel's Bacteria Detection Tech Will Bring American Bathrooms to the 21st Century
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Mizu Home, a trendy Santa Monica home accessory startup, launched just their Kickstarter campaign for their innovative, bacteria detecting Mizu Towels. Mizu towels utilize proprietary Solvatochromatic dyes, which change colors when they encounter bacteria metabolites.
"We wanted to pair this breakthrough technology with the best towel we could possibly create. We were tired of towels that don't dry quick enough, that smell bad, that shed lint, and that are simply too rough and uncomfortable," founder Alexander Darling said. "Therefore, we traveled to towel capital of the world - Imabari Japan - to learn from the world's foremost experts in towel-making. What we realized was that most of the softest and most durable Japanese towels use Xinjiang cotton and a twisted yarn weave. This allows for incredible absorbency, durability and cloud-like softness. The result is the best towel to ever grace my bathroom at a fraction of the cost of those $100 branded luxury towels. We're thrilled to be able to share it with the world"
A study from the University of Arizona found that the harmful bacteria found in feces was also present on up to 90% of kitchen and bathroom towels. Dr. Peter Barratt, from Initial Washroom Hygiene, told MailOnline that damp, used towels in moist bathrooms will encourage potentially life-threatening microbial growth. The sick, elderly, and young are especially at risk.
Mizu aims to solve this problem by having these key features within each towel in their line.
- Bacteria Prevention Technology – Antibacterial and hygienic to prevent bacteria from surviving in the first place
- Twisted Yarn Weave – Maximizes exposure to open air to decrease dry time and minimize existing bacterial growth
- Solvatochromic – Color change detects bacteria metabolites, alerting when towels should be washed
- Japanese Craftsmanship – Made with world-class technique from Imabari, Japan.
- Oversized for Comfort – Mizu Bath Towels are 58" by 30", 150% of the size of a regular towel
- Xinjiang Cotton – The best cotton in the world: unparalleled softness, durability, and absorbency.
"Comfort is our business. Mizu Towels are made of a high quality soft, staple cotton that is a cut above what you'll find in the stores." The cotton is highly absorbent, yet is woven in a way to dry quickly. No more musty, wet towels stinking up your bathroom twelve hours later!
Unlike most crowdfunding campaigns, Mizu Towel has already been conceptualized, prototyped, created, and sampled. Backers can take solace in knowing they're funding a real product that is expected to ship by the holiday season. For more information, visit bit.ly/ mizuKS
