The Michigan Humane Society has been working to end animal cruelty and homelessness in the state for over 125 years. Providing the highest quality service and compassion to the approximately 30,000 animals placed in their care every year, their goal is to find loving homes for each and every one. The 100% placement milestone for healthy dogs was reached in 2014 and the Humane Society is now focused on doing the same for cats. Their many vital programs include emergency rescue, veterinary services, animal legislation and welfare issues, cruelty investigation and pet adoption, as well as education on humane treatment and pet care. Although they provide safety and loving care to tens of thousands of animals every year, there are still countless more at local animal control shelters, with rescue groups, and unfortunately, still on the streets who need the care and compassion of the community.
