Mobile Innovations Simplifies Field Officer GPS Location, Tracking and Reporting For Faster Dispatch With New Android Version Of MPATrack
Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) January 21, 2014 -- Mobile Innovations Corporation President and Founder Gary Bauer announced the launch of MPA Track for Android smartphones and tablets today. Like the original BlackBerry version, the new Android app is an enterprise solution that extends the visibility of officers in the field by making their whereabouts known to dispatch at a glance on their PC screen every couple of minutes. Currently deployed by dozens of law enforcement agencies who use BlackBerry, the new version is expected to open many new US markets where Android devices are dominant.
MPATrack app sends precise GPS coordinates from the officer’s Android or BlackBerry smartphone to dispatch at regular intervals, and represents officers as color-coded badges on a map on the dispatcher’s PC screen. This lets the dispatcher and other HQ staff know exactly where each officer or group is -- easily, rapidly and accurately in real time without time-consuming calls, emails and text messages. If an officer is in trouble or an incident requires immediate attention, the dispatcher knows at a glance where the closest available help is, saving potentially lifesaving minutes when they matter most.
The MPATrack app is headless – it runs invisibly on the field officer’s smartphone in the background with no Graphic User Interface – sending updated GPS location data from the Android or BlackBerry smartphone every two to three minutes, depending on configuration. This saves on battery power required to run the app and adds a degree of safety for field personnel carrying the devices in dangerous or covert situations.
“MPATrack has been out there for years as a proven and popular BlackBerry Java solution,” Says Bauer. “Used worldwide by dozens of police services for cost-effective, real-time knowledge of where every field officer is at any given moment, our app simplifies the dispatcher's job in a big way. It cuts response times and miscommunications, and generally pays for itself in a matter of weeks.”
MPATracker Android smartphones and tablets as well BB10 devices is available for a one-time charge of $50 USD per user, with a 20% annual support package also available. The first significant rollout of the MPATracker for Android app is currently in the late stages of deployment for a small US law enforcement agency with under 100 officers. The company is working on an iOS version of its app for iPhones and iPads, which it plans to release in later in 2014.
Mobile Innovations is also opening markets outside of law enforcement for MPATrack. These include resource, mining and energy companies; transportation and couriers companies and mobile repair service companies – any operation that has field personnel they need to keep close touch with for business or safety reasons.
