Mobile Technology is the Future of Monitoring Released Inmates
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) July 26, 2013 -- Probation and Parole Officers are implementing mobile technology to aid in the monitoring of offenders in their community. In a just released survey taken by GoldPost Technologies, Inc. (GPT), a Nevada based Mobile Development Company, an overwhelming number of respondents say their departments are implementing technology to receive information on offenders in the field. Live feeds such as GPS Mapping, Offender Arrests, Toxicology Reports and other alerts are critical to their ability to manage probationers while keeping communities safe.
Of the responding counties who say they are currently deploying, budgeting, or seriously considering making mobile technology a part of monitoring their caseload, Case Management was ranked the mobile feed which would be of highest value in the field, with Live GPS mapping the next most valuable.
Fifty-nine percent of the survey respondents represented departments with a ratio of 76 or more offenders to each officer, and 36 percent were exceeding 100 clients per officer. Sixty-five percent of respondents came from departments responsible for over 1,000 offenders and 20% monitored between 251 and 1000 offenders, leaving just 15% working with less than 250 clients.
“With the influx of probationers and parolees across the country, it’s no wonder that the majority of departments are looking toward mobile technology to monitor their probationers,” said Glenn Rouse, GPT’s Vice President of Sales.
Of the 33% that are not currently deploying mobile technology to monitor offenders, they say their departments are seriously considering information mobility, but there is concern over the cost of a solution and available funding to pay for the service. Other concerns include information security and executive level buy-in.
