Mobile VAS to Dominate Telecom Services by 2018, Reveals TechSci Research
(PRWEB) December 23, 2013 -- The Indian telecom service market has emerged as the fastest growing market globally during last three years as a result of various government initiatives. The NTP (National Telecom Policy) of 2012 and broadband policy of 2004 have largely contributed to the growth of the telecom service market in India.
According to a recently published report by TechSci Research ‘India Telecom Services Market Forecast & Opportunities 2018’, the growth in subscribers’ volume of the telecom service market in India is anticipated to witness CAGR of about 11% during 2013-18. The reason for the expected growth rate can be associated with declining tariffs for telecom services along with emergence of network technologies in the sector.
The latest report highlights that telecom service market employed about 7.5 Million people directly and nearly 3.2 Million people indirectly in India in 2012.
The report reveals that the Indian government is playing a crucial role in the development of the telecom services market. Proposals, such as free roaming and a unified licensing regime for operators, under NTP of 2012, are expected to contribute to the growth of the telecom service market in India. The NTP policy is also likely to boost the broadband service market and domestic manufacturing of telecom equipment over the next five years.
One of the major reforms witnessed in 2013 was the Indian government’s approval of 100% FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) in the telecom sector, increasing from 74% previously. This initiative is estimated to fulfil the key demand for fund flows from international players in the telecom sector in India.
The report analyses key service providers in the telecom service market of India as Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, BSNL and Reliance.
“The Indian telecom services market is one of the fastest growing markets across the globe due to rapidly increasing subscribers’ volume, particularly in the mobile phone service segment. On the other hand, adoption of broadband services is at a very nascent stage in India, but this segment is anticipated to be the second highest revenue generating segment after mobile phone services in the next five years,” said Mr. Karan Chechi, Research Director with TechSci Research, a research based global management consulting firm.
