Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) June 08, 2017 -- Mobility Designed, http://www.mobilitydesigned.com, announced today that its Board of Directors has appointed Dan Alcazar as Chief Executive Officer. Charles Schellhorn, President of The Aberdeen Financial Group, LLC and Mobility Designed Board Chairman, noted “This is a meaningful step forward for Mobility Designed and Dan is the right man for the job. I believe he will be able to lead the company through the exciting times ahead.”
Alcazar replaces Co-Founder, Liliana Younger, who will remain on the Board and maintain an active role in the company’s day-to-day operations. Younger expressed her enthusiasm for his appointment, “I am thrilled to welcome Dan to the M+D family. His character and skill set will serve us well on our journey. I am very proud of how far we have come and I'm excited for the next chapter. We feel that Dan’s knowledge and experience will be a tremendous asset in leading our team and in shaping our company’s long and short-term objectives."
Alcazar has created profitable growth within early-stage, mid-sized, and Fortune 500 businesses; delivering record revenue and market share within highly competitive markets. His experience includes marquee national and regional brands RJR Nabisco, Sprint, Embarq as well as portfolio companies of the Venture Capital firms OPENAIR and The Resource Group.
The Kansas City based startup recently closed an initial one million dollars in seed funding. Mobility Designed was founded by husband and wife team Max and Liliana Younger in 2015. They were inspired by Max’s father, an above-the-knee amputee, to invent a better crutch. The company’s first product, the M+D Crutch, supports the user’s weight by evenly distributing it throughout the user’s elbow and forearm for a more comfortable alternative to both axillary and forearm crutches. The company sold out of its first two production runs months before they were produced.
Mobility Designed has received numerous regional and national awards including winning the UPS Midwest X-Port Challenge, National Finalist in the UberPITCH 2016, Finalist in Fast Company’s 2016 Innovation By Design Awards and LaunchKC Grant recipient.
It is estimated that just over 6.8 million people in the United States use assistive devices to help them with mobility. With a pipeline of products that focus on delivering the most pain free experience possible for crutch users, Mobility Designed hopes to see extensive growth in the next 18 months.
