(PRWEB UK) 6 August 2013 -- The exclusive event ‘Komm flieg mit mir weg,’ which roughly translates as ‘Come fly away with me,’ takes place in Bern, Switzerland on 24 August and showcases 12 unique designs by Karl Yala, including the Peacock Dress which features 10,000 Swarovski crystals from specialist crystal supplier Modastrass.
The Swarovski crystal-embellished Peacock Dress is the standout design of the show, according to Yala, who said of his creation: “For this dress I wanted to implement my vision of a marvellous bird in a dress - majestic, elegant, captivating and sublime. The dress is covered with hundreds of black and gold roses made one by one by hand and embellished with 10,000 Swarovski Crystals.”
Yala, who was born in the Congo and moved to Marseilles as a child, had an artistic vision from a young age which set him apart from friends and family. He says, “When I create, I am free. I don’t need to set limits for myself and feel free like a bird.”
This sense of freedom inspired the 12 innovative designs in the “Come fly away with me” collection, which not only shares Yala’s aesthetic vision with the world, but also provides social commentary on issues like consumption and environmental policies. The models featured in the show are not professional models; Kala recruited ambitious young women from shops, high streets, and through acquaintances to perfect the form and style of his pieces.
The event will be a unique spectacle, combining fashion with contemporary dance performances and music by DJ Dominic, aka DJ Soul. This is a free event that will take place on 24th August in Waisenhausplatz, and will be presented by Marie Eve Marville.
