ModCloth Now Sees Over 50% of Visits from Mobile; Expands Mobile Shopping Experience to Android
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 21, 2013 -- ModCloth, the premier online shopping destination for all things vintage-inspired, is extending its social shopping experience with the ModCloth App for Android, launching today. With over 50% of visits to ModCloth now coming from mobile, this expansion furthers the company’s mobile-first strategy and extends the app experience to the millions of consumers using Android devices. It follows the release of ModCloth’s popular iOS Apps for iPhone and iPad, launched in April and February 2013, respectively.
“As consumers increasingly use mobile for everything they do, we’re finding that more and more visits to ModCloth are coming from mobile devices. Extending the ModCloth experience to Android was the natural next step to give all of our community members an engaging, seamless shopping experience on whatever device they use,” said Sarah Rose, ModCloth’s SVP of Product and Growth.
From January to September 2013, mobile visits to ModCloth almost doubled from 27% to over 50%, in large part due to the deeply engaging features available through ModCloth’s apps. Mobile app integration with ModCloth’s shoppable outfit photo platform, Style Gallery, and full sharing capabilities with other social networks have led to an increasingly engaged user base. Notably, uploads to Style Gallery from the mobile app increased by more than 100% since this feature was added in July. Other notable insights include:
• More products have been pinned from the ModCloth app with Pinterest pinning capability than were shared via SMS, Facebook and email combined.
• Following the integration of reviews to the iOS app, product reviews increased by 25% in the first month, including a 55% increase of reviews with images
Developed with a focus on engaging users and providing a seamless on-the-go experience, ModCloth’s iOS apps have not only led to greater engagement, but also to higher sales than desktop users. ModCloth app users spend on average double that of a desktop user, and they are also returning 3.5 times as much to the app as they do to the mobile site. The company predicts that the strong performance of the iOS apps will extend to the Android platform, and that customers using Android devices will be as deeply engaged.
The ModCloth App for Android, built in partnership with mobile product development firm Two Toasters, was created with these engagement features in mind. Built and designed specifically for the Android platform, initial launch features include:
• Early and exclusive access to holiday sales and perks
• Easily browse products and “Love” favorites
• Share products via any social network to friends and family
• Efficient and streamlined checkout process
The ModCloth Android App is available for free internationally from Google Play or at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modcloth.
