Modest Needs Celebrates First Anniversary of Homecoming Heroes Grant Program for New Veterans - Up to $1500 Each
New York, New York (PRWEB) May 07, 2014 -- Modest Needs Foundation, a national nonprofit organization promoting self-sufficiency by assisting low income workers and newly returning veterans facing short-term financial emergencies, is pleased to announce the first anniversary of its Homecoming Heroes grant program for military veterans, launched Memorial Day 2013.
The Homecoming Heroes grant program was created to honor the fallen by helping today’s veterans, providing one-time financial support to U.S. military members returning from active duty to ease their transition from military service to civilian life. In its first year, the Homecoming Heroes grant program distributed more than $70,000 to deserving veterans. To date, 100% of approved applicants have been funded, and the program is expected to help twice as many veterans this year.
Veteran applications are financed – and quickly - by Modest Needs’ donors wishing to thank them for their service and sacrifice. When pooled together, individual donor contributions and monthly pledges have replaced heaters, repaired cars, halted foreclosures, and prevented eviction and homelessness for U.S. veterans all over the country.
Life-changing Homecoming Heroes grants up to $1,500 each are currently available to veterans who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life in the last three years and are waiting for an anticipated, foreseeable source of income which will permit them to be self-sufficient. If you are a veteran in need of assistance, please apply here (or on the Modest Needs website – http://www.modestneeds.org).
Other veterans and military families may also apply for assistance through the self-sufficiency grant program. Since 2002, Modest Needs' donors have contributed more than $300,000 for military families in need of a safety net to bridge them from a financial crisis to independence.
Modest Needs Foundation has been recognized by the Better Business Bureau as one of the ‘Great Non-Profits’ and is the recipient of the BBB’s 2013 ‘Top Rated’ award.
To the best of our knowledge, Modest Needs Foundation is the only legitimate nonprofit organization of its kind serving the United States by helping people before they fall into poverty.
