Mohnacky Animal Hospitals Announces “Sponsor a Homeless Dog” Program with Upward Dog Rescue
Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) March 02, 2014 -- Mohnacky Animal Hospitals is proud to announce their new “Sponsor A Homeless Dog Program” made in partnership with Upward Dog Rescue, Inc., a Carlsbad-based 501(c)(3) non-profit dog rescue organization.
Upward Dog Rescue has been working with Mohnacky Animal Hospitals since January, 2012. The all-breed rescue organization frequently saves dogs from San Bernardino City Shelter, the Devore Animal Shelter, the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter, as well as homeless dogs in Ensenada, Rosarito, and Tijuana. In the last two years, more than 150 homeless dogs rescued by Upward Dog Rescue have received veterinary care at Mohnacky Animal Hospitals, before going on to foster homes or being adopted.
The Sponsor a Homeless Dog Program ensures a safe place to stay at Mohnacky Animal Hospital for an adoptable shelter dog that otherwise may be euthanized due to space at a high-kill Southern California shelter. By providing a temporary boarding and care grant to an adoptable dog, Mohnacky Animal Hospitals’ Sponsor a Homeless Dog Program subsidizes the amount that it costs Upward Dog Rescue to intake each dog, and allows more adoptable dogs to be saved.
“We are very grateful to receive this generous grant from Mohnacky Animal Hospitals,” said Valerie Ashton, founder and president of Upward Dog Rescue. “There are so many perfectly adoptable dogs and puppies being euthanized in shelters, or suffering on the streets just south of the border. This sponsor program will really save a lot of lives.”
Dogs who are “sponsored” by Mohnacky Animal Hospitals will be made available for adoption once they have been deemed healthy, and have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Although Mohnacky Animal Hospital will provide a temporary boarding grant, Upward Dog Rescue has the final word on which dogs are selected for the sponsor program.
