Mold In Graphics Systems® Innovates MIG® 5 Branding Technology for Rotomolders After 30+ Years

Upgraded features of this 5th generation Mold In Graphic® include a cutting edge, pressure sensitive pre-printed adhesive and the ability to quickly transfer the MIG 5 graphics onto any temperature of mold, from extremely hot to very cold.
Daven Claerbout, from Dutchland Plastics, also stated “Originally it was temperature sensitive, but today with the new MIG 5 it is not sensitive at all. Hot or cold, it just does not matter anymore.”
This temperature independence feature for the new 5th generation Mold In Graphic has allowed rotomolders to complete their oven cycle times more quickly while adding the premium branding experience that no other decorating method has been able to achieve.
The MIG 5 graphic can also be transferred onto textured molds, which previously were not attainable by other decorating methods. Although the new MIG 5 graphic system is less than one year old, it has quickly been accepted by almost all rotomolders who have trialed this new process.
In 2014, a major client visitor program was started for viewing demonstrations of the MIG 5, by Scott Saxman, Senior VP Sales Manager at Mold In Graphic Systems. This visitor program has brought personnel from 18 of the largest rotomolding companies in North America to our MIGS® plant in Arizona. Nearly all of these companies have since converted to the 5th generation Mold In Graphics technology.
The critical differentiation between all Mold In Graphic Systems plastic decorating technologies when compared to any other methods can be summed up in two words as "permanent and visible." All other PE decorating systems available use unstable inks or dyes, often printed on a foreign paper or vinyl substrate in an attempt to glue them into a mold or adhere them topically onto the plastic. The Mold In Graphics MIG 5 system however, literally thermo-fuses a proprietary graphic, made from compatible pigmented polymers, that embed into the subsurface of the part itself during the rotomolding process.
Prior to the emergence of Mold In Graphics technology, molded engraved plates were the only other method that allowed a graphic message to be permanently molded in to the skin of the hard to decorate PE, and although the raised/concave graphic produced by mold engravings are cheap, they do not always provide results for manufacturers seeking vivid branding. Like all previous Mold In Graphics products, the MIG 5 can be produced with intricate detail in multiple colors.
Also noteworthy is the fact that the MIG 5 and all Mold In Graphic Systems graphics are 100% recyclable. When a polyolefin product decorated with this technology reaches the end of its life cycle, the entire part can be recycled because the graphics are comprised of the same plastic pigments.
