Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) October 23, 2013 -- Momentum Telecom Inc., a premier business technology and communications provider, announced today that the company will be relocating its corporate headquarters from Shelby County to the Birmingham business district in mid-December of 2013.
Mayor William A. Bell, Sr., the City’s Office of Economic Development and the Birmingham City Council have been instrumental in advancing and now finalizing the plans for Momentum to move to the 800 building of Trinity Medical Center. As the first major tenant on the hospital’s campus, Momentum is expected to be a catalyst for future redevelopment and continued usage of the site after Trinity’s move to the Grandview Medical Center on U.S. 280 in 2016.
“We have made a strong commitment to the neighborhoods in the Trinity Medical Center area to help bring high-technology, innovative firms to the campus as Trinity vacates the Montclair Road site over the next two years,” said Birmingham Mayor William A. Bell, Sr. “Momentum Telecom is a perfect example of the type of company we will continue to recruit to the campus. We welcome Momentum and its 60 employees to the City of Birmingham, and look forward to working with Trinity and Birmingham’s commercial development community as we continue to bring outstanding companies like Momentum to Montclair Road.”
Founded in 2001, Momentum offers residential and business voice over IP communications services to both direct subscribers and the wholesale market. Since 2011, Momentum has experienced significant business services growth and rapidly expanded its retail sales channel. The company plans to increase its Birmingham-based workforce by 30 percent over the next four years, further supporting the move into the city.
“With continued growth and a business sales team that has recently quadrupled, it seemed like a natural time to make the move to a larger space. Fully integrating the company into the heart of the business district and being in the mix of the 90,000 professionals that it’s comprised of is a change that offers great potential,"Momentum President and CEO, Bill Fox said. “The innovators in the banking, medical and manufacturing industries already located in the downtown region of Birmingham will now have access to a high-tech communications provider that can support their forward-thinking initiatives and power their business communications.”
Momentum’s move will foster a strong local presence in the Birmingham community, facilitating personalized customer relations and providing direct insight to help improve communications for companies in the area. Fox said face-to-face interactions with customers will be invaluable to the product development process, allowing Momentum to design solutions that tailor to the current needs of businesses.
The company is working with an interior design firm on redesign plans. Momentum envisions an office space that promotes a creative and collaborative work culture with increased productivity.
“The resurgence of downtown Birmingham is exciting and we are thrilled about the opportunity to be a part of the progression. We have offices throughout the U.S. and we are proud to call Birmingham our corporate headquarters,” Momentum CFO, Matthew Conroy said.
Momentum is expecting to move into the new space mid-December and will announce ribbon cutting ceremony details soon.
