Aspen, CO (PRWEB) January 25, 2014 -- The Monster Energy team has taken the top two spots in Men’s Ski SuperPipe at X Games Aspen 2014, with David Wise taking the gold and Kevin Rolland backing him up with the silver. The win for Wise makes for an incredible third-straight gold in Ski SuperPipe.

Coming into tonight’s final Wise was the clear-cut favorite to win, especially after qualifying first with a 3-point margin. With each rider getting three runs, Wise chalked up his highest score on his very first, a 92.00. The combination of super huge amplitude and really technical tricks did it for him: a switch right side 900 tail, a massive switch left double flip 1080 japan, a rightside double cork 1260 mute, a leftside double cork 1260 mute, and an alley-oop flat-spin 540 octo-grab. He’s one of the only guys doing back-to-back double cork 1260 combos, and by far the most consistent at it. His 92.00 proved untouchable—Wise was afforded a victory lap on his last run.

Meanwhile Rolland, a two-time SuperPipe gold medalist himself, looked solid throughout with his best run coming on his 2nd. The Frenchmen pulled a huge double flip 1080 safety, a right side 720 mute, a giant double cork 1260 mute, an alley-oop flatspin 360, and a switch double cork 1080 mute.
