Monster Energy, the Official Energy Drink Sponsor of the X Games Aspen 2015, Takes Over With Its Team of Competing Athletes
Aspen, Colo (PRWEB) January 21, 2015 -- Monster Energy, the official energy drink sponsor of X Games, is proud to announce its team of world-class athletes ready to compete this week at X Games Aspen 2015 at Buttermilk Mountain at Aspen Snowmass in Aspen, Colo. All the action gets underway January 22-25, with competition spreading across snowboard, ski, and snowmobile events.
The Monster team is locked and loaded with a banner number of riders earning the coveted X Games Aspen 2015 invites. Key athletes and events to watch out for include:
Olympic gold medalist Iouri Podladtchikov will be shooting for the top of the podium in men’s Snowboard SuperPipe to add to his medal count. At X Games Tignes he made history by landing the first ever Cab double cork 1440. Since then both he and the competitors have been upping their game and going larger than ever with more focus on style and trick diversity – the event should be nothing short of amazing.
Joining Iouri in the SuperPipe will be Taylor Gold, who has all the hype coming into Aspen with a four-contest winning streak to include his recent win at the Grand Prix in snowboard halfpipe, ever-stylish Swiss Olympian Christian Haller, and Japanese phenom and Olympic silver medalist Ayumu Hirano who is still only 16 years old.
On the women’s side, 14-year-old prodigy Chloe Kim will aim to keep her recent podium streak alive, and build off her 2013 X Games silver medal by representing Monster Energy in Women’s Snowboard SuperPipe. In women’s pipe, Chloe is simply the one to watch.
In Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle, Olympic gold medalist Jamie Anderson will once again display her uncanny power and board control on the three jumps and rails section. Anderson has won an astounding nine slopestyle medals, including three gold in ’08, ’12, and ’13.
In Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle, the field is bursting with Monster Energy talent: Olympic gold medalist Sage Kotsenburg, 2014 slopestyle X Games Aspen gold medalist Max Parrot, Norway’s Alek Ostreng, and former TTR champion Peetu Piiroinen will all be looking for medals to take home.
In Men’s Snowboarder X, Nate Holland is the dominant force. With seven gold medals he will surely be anticipating an eighth.
Sage Kotsenburg and 2014 snowboard big air gold medalist Max Parrot are two of the favorites to win the always-exciting Snowboard Big Air contest.
On the ski side of competition, the stacked field of Men’s Ski Slopestyle include: Henrik Harlaut, Tom Wallisch, James Woods, Alex Schlopy, Alex Beaulieu-Marchand, Gus Kenworthy, Evan McEachran and Jossi Wells (alt).
The crew’s successes at X have been considerable: Harlaut took silver in 2013 and Woods took Bronze in 2013, both in Aspen, and Wells took silver in ski slopestyle at X Games Tignes 2013.
In Women’s Ski Slopestyle, Olympic silver medalist Devin Logan and young Julia Krass will hold it down for Monster Energy.
In Ski SuperPipe, Olympic gold medalist and three-time defending X Games Aspen gold medalist David Wise, and Olympic bronze medalist Kevin Rolland return to the pipe with global confidence. Both are highly technical and clean riders, so look for big things from them as well as their teammates Justin Dorey, Aaron Blunck, Gus Kenworthy and Jossi Wells (alt). On the women’s side of Skiing SuperPipe, look out for Brita Sigourney and Devin Logan.
The always-exciting Ski Big Air event should go off again with Alex Schlopy, Henrik Harlaut, Alex Beaulieu-Marchand, and Jossi Wells (alt). Keep an eye out for Harlaut who took gold in 2013 thanks to his insane nose-butter variations (nosebutter double cork 1260 with a proper tailgrab; a nosebutter triple cork) and again in 2014. He is definitely a solid threat to become the first skier to earn a three-peat in Ski Big Air.
In Snowmobile Speed & Style, which is back for 2015, look out for Cory Davis who took silver in 2013 and Joe Parsons who backed him up with a bronze in 2013. In the new Hillcross event Chris Burandt will represent Monster Energy.
The Snowmobile Long Jump event should be exciting with Heath Frisby, Joe Parsons, Cory Davis, and Chris Burandt all back to dominate again, flying high (and long) for the gold.
In Snocross, Tucker Hibbert’s dominance is undeniable thanks to his seven-straight golds in the event. He’ll be joined on the course by young Wisconsin native, Kody Kamm who took sliver last year.
The multi-talented Doug Henry will be competing in the Adaptive Snocross and is hoping to add to his medal collection, which includes seven total - five overall medals at winter X and two from summer X.
