Monthly Artisan & Craftsman Marketplace Launches with First Pop-Up on September 10, 2017
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 07, 2017 -- The Cannery Courtyard is home to San Francisco’s newest pop-up market. Launching this Sunday, September 10, the Artisan & Craftsman Marketplace will take place on the second Sunday of every month from 11a.m. - 5 p.m.
The event series is a product of the partnership between the co-owners of the courtyard space, Academy of Art University and Argonaut Hotel, and the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District (FWCBD). The FWCBD produces many events in the neighborhood, including: Crab Fest, MerryTime at the Wharf, and the annual Wharf Fest Chowder Competition and Street Fair, now in its fifth year. Both the co-owners of the Cannery Courtyard have wanted to activate the space so, the FWCBD conceptualized the idea of the marketplace.
Over 20 curated artists, craftsmen, and makers from Etsy, SFMade, and the San Francisco Arts Commission will set up shop in the historic Cannery Courtyard at the Wharf. Patrons will browse through the unique locally-made selection of art, ceramics, jewelry, accessories, home décor, and bath and beauty products. Everything in the market is made by San Francisco or Bay Area residents, and there is no cost for the vendors to participate. “The vision for this market,” said Troy Campbell, Executive Director of the FWCBD, “is to create an ongoing place for artists and craftsmen to promote and sell their goods, while not making it cost prohibitive. This way everyone has the potential to participate.”
Each month features and new live music act. At Sunday’s kickoff marketplace, a San Diego-based singer/songwriter, Heather Nation, will be performing. Attendees will also be able to wander through the Academy of Art student galleries in the courtyard and enjoy a meal at one of the courtyard restaurants. The Cannery Courtyard is home to Blue Mermaid, recipient of the Best Chowder at the Wharf award, Jack’s Cannery Bar, Flying Ninja Sushi, Las Margaritas – Restaurant & Bar, and Norm’s Ice Cream. Other nearby eateries include The Buena Vista, In-N-Out Burger, and Cioppino’s.
