More than 400 Abstracts Highlighting Allergic Disease to be Presented at WAO International Scientific Conference (WISC 2014) in Brazil
Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) November 24, 2014 -- World Allergy Organization (WAO) today announced that data from more than 400 abstracts, evaluating 10 categories from the field of allergy and immunology, will be presented at the 3rd WAO International Scientific Conference (WISC 2014). WAO will host the WISC 2014 in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Brazilian Association of Allergy and Immunology (ASBAI), from 6-9 December, 2014, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
“We are pleased with the wide range of abstract topics this year that reflect the increasing prevalence of allergic disease around the world and the need for a deeper understanding of the underlying mechanisms of severe and complex allergies and asthma,” said Lanny Rosenwasser, MD, President of the World Allergy Organization. “Attendees will have the opportunity to explore recent research findings and clinical advancements related to food allergy, innate immunity, anaphylaxis, asthma diagnosis and treatment, dermatology and drug allergy, environmental and occupational respiratory diseases, molecular allergy, mechanisms of asthma and allergic inflammation, immunotherapy, and more.”
Posters will be presented throughout the conference when no other sessions are taking place in order to emphasize the importance of this new research. Poster symposia will highlight clinical advancements and recent research findings, such as:
• Bet v 1 as a basis for future allergen immunotherapies counteracting Th2 immune responses on a molecular basis (Abstract 2014)
• Testing for and treating multi-sensitization to insects (Abstract 1027)
• The effect of tryptase levels on cutaneous versus systemic mastocytosis (Abstract 1031)
• Identifying molecules for use as adjuvants in anti-allergy immunotherapeutic preparations (Abstract 1006)
• Using the basophil activation test (BAT) as a biomarker to assess drug sensitization and monitor RDD safety and efficacy (Abstract 1007)
• Molecular diagnosis of pollen sensitization in a specific region (Abstract 2021)
• Multiplexed molecular diagnosis for use in the management of polysensitized patients (Abstract 3020)
• Evaluation of accuracy and quality of YouTube videos on the use of asthma inhalers in patient education (Abstract 1023)
Over 1600 attendees will participate in the WISC 2014 keynote lectures, symposia, plenaries, postgraduate courses, and many other programs delivered by a faculty of 150 international experts. More than 30 travel grants have been awarded. The scientific program is available online at: http://www.worldallergy.org/wisc2014.
