Morgan & Morgan Attorney Justin Miller Participates in “P.A.Y.DAY” 2013 to Stress the Importance of Education, Community, and Healthy Living to Atlanta Kids
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 10, 2013 -- On Saturday, October 26, attorney Justin Miller and hundreds of kids participated in Positive American Youth’s “P.A.Y.DAY.” The event, co-sponsored by Atlanta hip-hop radio station Hot 107.9 and funded by Morgan & Morgan, featured lunch, give-aways, guest celebrities, and sports, all with the goal of reminding kids of the benefits of keeping active, living healthy, and staying positive.
“The event was a huge success and the kids could not wait until the next one,” Miller said.
Positive American Youth (P.A.Y.) was established in 1997 and focuses on helping young people through “entertainment, sports, education and fundraising events.” Held at Atlanta Metropolitan College, “P.A.Y.DAY” kept more than 300 youngsters entertained and active with soccer and basketball games, contests with chances to win prizes, and celebrities like rapper Young Joc and Hot 107.9’s own DJ Reec.
According to Miller, it takes far more than just words to get P.A.Y.’s message to today’s kids. The best way to teach tomorrow’s future about good habits and positivity, Miller says, is by leading by example.
“Kids need to see us. It lets them know that they can approach us and that they can be where we are with hard work and dedication,” Miller said. “People pay lip service to wanting to help the people and the community but don’t show it because they don’t personally touch and interact with people in the community.”
In step with Miller’s sentiment, the organization believes it takes action to influence today’s young people, which is why Positive American Youth’s roster of staff and mentors use real-life experiences to drive home its ideals. With a generation so infatuated and influenced by sports and entertainment, Miller feels that there’s no better way of spreading a positive message among the youth than with events like this past weekend’s “P.A.Y.DAY.”
“For urban youth, staying positive and doing good, wholesome things are important,” Miller said. “It keeps kids off the streets and out of trouble.”
A graduate of Morehouse College and later St. John’s University School of Law, Miller moved back to Atlanta after completing his legal studies and has continued mentoring and working with the city’s youth ever since. In addition to his community involvement, Miller handles cases for families in Atlanta-area juvenile courts while practicing in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, and premises liability for Morgan & Morgan.
At the end of an activity-filled day, as Miller put it, his message is one that is often forgotten when it comes to giving back to a community that could always use some positive role models.
