Morgan & Morgan Congratulates Atlanta Attorney Madeleine Simmons on Her Selection to the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association’s Inaugural LEAD Program
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- Morgan & Morgan is proud to congratulate attorney Madeleine Simmons on her selection to the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association’s (GTLA) inaugural Leadership Education & Advanced Direction (LEAD) Program, which will begin November 22 and 23 in Athens, Georgia.
“I am thrilled to be selected for GTLA LEAD because we will be trained by some of the most talented and experienced litigators in Georgia,” Simmons said of the honor. “It will be a tremendous learning experience.”
The LEAD Program is designed to “identify those with leadership potential” from a group of the association’s younger lawyers while training them to take on future leadership roles within both the GTLA and the community. To qualify for the program, applicants must have less than 10 years experience within their area of practice or be 35 years old or younger.
After a “rigorous” application and selection process, 16 young lawyers throughout Georgia were chosen. For Simmons, the exclusivity of the LEAD Program’s inaugural selection class gives a little extra meaning to the already prestigious accomplishment.
“I am honored to be chosen as one of the 16 lawyers across the state to participate in this program. My fellow GTLA LEAD classmates are the best and brightest in our field and I am fortunate to share in this experience with them,” Simmons said. “It is exciting to know that we were all chosen because of our potential to become future leaders.”
A graduate of the Georgia State University College of Law, Simmons focuses her practice with Morgan & Morgan on personal injury litigation. While at Georgia State, Simmons was Vice President of the Student Trial Lawyers association and Pro Bono Editor of the College of Law’s student newspaper. In addition to her legal practice, Simmons remains involved with several charitable organizations in the Atlanta area, including Big Brothers Big Sisters and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
According to Simmons, not much compares to the jury verdicts she’s obtained throughout her relatively young legal career. Her selection to the GTLA’s LEAD Program, however, certainly ranks high on her list of professional accomplishments and goals.
“As a trial lawyer who is dedicated to fighting for justice on behalf of my clients, my jury verdicts are my most cherished achievements,” Simmons said. “However, being selected to this prestigious program truly advances my personal and professional goals to become the most effective trial lawyer and community leader that I can be. I could not be more excited for this opportunity.”
Founded in 1956, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association is a group committed to “strengthening and upholding Georgia’s civil justice system and protecting the rights of Georgia citizens and consumers.” According to the GTLA’s website, the organization works within the “legislative, political, and media arenas” to remind Georgia’s residents of the importance of their rights to justice. The GTLA is responsible for handing out awards such as the Guardian of Justice Award, its highest honor, and the Courageous Pursuit of Justice Award for those who have shown “exceptional bravery” while seeking justice.
