Morrison & Foerster Names New Firmwide Managing Partner
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) January 11, 2016 -- Morrison & Foerster, a leading global law firm, is pleased to announce that Tessa Schwartz has been named a firmwide managing partner with global responsibilities, effective immediately. Supporting Larren Nashelsky, chair of Morrison & Foerster, Ms. Schwartz will work closely with Craig Martin, who has been a firmwide managing partner since 2012. Ms. Schwartz succeeds Anna Erickson White, who will return full-time to her litigation practice after serving as firmwide managing partner for the last four years. Eric Piesner and Paul Friedman will also continue in their roles as firmwide managing partners, responsible for overseeing the firm’s five Asian offices and three European offices, respectively.
Ms. Schwartz has been co-chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Technology Transactions Group for three years. Ms. Schwartz has an active practice counseling companies on intellectual property issues, and negotiating complex intellectual property and commercial agreements. She advises on a range of strategic transactions, including key patent licenses and acquisitions, technology procurement agreements and complex development, collaboration, joint venture, and distribution deals. Ms. Schwartz also regularly advises companies on the intellectual property aspects of their M&A transactions.
“In addition to being an outstanding lawyer, Tessa has sharp strategic vision and proven leadership skills,” said Mr. Nashelsky. “Tessa has been a critical player at Morrison & Foerster in numerous strategic M&A and technology transactions, helping to enhance our reputation as a premier global law firm. She will be a key asset to us in her important new role.”
Mr. Nashelsky added: “I would also like to thank Anna for her tireless and ongoing commitment to Morrison & Foerster. During Anna’s time as a firmwide managing partner, she was focused on our clients and how we deliver high-quality, high-value legal work for them. She also helped develop and implement significant growth initiatives that further established us as a market leader putting the firm in a strong position for the future.”
“It is my honor and privilege to be elected firmwide managing partner,” said Ms. Schwartz. “I have a deep respect for this firm, my colleagues, and our clients. I look forward to joining the leadership team to help continue MoFo’s tradition of exceptional client service.”
Ms. Schwartz is recommended by Chambers USA (2013–2015) and Legal 500 U.S. (2013–2015). She received her B.A. magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1991. In 1996, she earned her J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif.
