Morristown VNA Fundraiser to Honor Distinguished Community Members
(PRWEB) March 26, 2015 -- Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNA) will celebrate their 18th annual gala fundraiser, Lighting the Way, Brightening the Day, on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at The Madison Hotel in Morristown, NJ.
Guests will enjoy an elegant evening featuring live entertainment by renowned musician Rio Clemente, delightful cuisine, an extensive silent auction and heart-warming testimony from caregivers Pat and Dave Hertzel. Additionally, two prestigious awards will be presented to this year’s honorees.
Sister Merris Larkin, Principal of Assumption School, will receive the Anna B. Hillock Community Service award. Sister Merris Larkin has been influencing the lives of youth in the Morristown community for over 20 years. She was the recipient of the Delbarton Distinguished Educator Award in 2012 and was honored at the 2nd annual Women of Tri-County Luncheon in 2014 for her service to others and vocation as a role model for youth in the area. Under her leadership as Principal, Assumption School was one of three schools in Morris County to be named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2014 by the US Department of Education.
The Robert and Joan Dircks Foundation will receive the Caroline J. Cauldwell Corporate Founder’s award. Following the philanthropic example set by the late Robert and Joan Dircks, the Robert and Joan Dircks Foundation is a family foundation that generously supports programs and projects benefiting individuals who are physically, mentally or economically disadvantaged. Since it’s inception in 1991, the Foundation has awarded over 1,000 grants, totaling more than 8.5 million dollars.

Scott, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer at VNA. “We are delighted to honor Sister Merris and the Robert and Joan Dircks Foundation for their commitment to our community.”
The Lighting the Way, Brightening the Day gala also highlights VNA’s tradition of caring for those in need in Morris and Hunterdon counties. VNA’s mission today remains the same as at its founding more than 117 years ago – to provide comprehensive, compassionate home care to the sick, elderly and disabled, including those without resources to pay for their care.
“Lighting the Way brings together friends of VNA and offers them many ways to support the essential services that bring comfort to countless patients and touch the lives of their families,” said Event Chair, Dale Calvert. Numerous sponsorship and underwriting opportunities are available, starting at $250, and advertising in the event journal is a great way for individuals and organizations to pay tribute to this year’s honorees. Tickets are on sale for the 50/50 Raffle and attendance is not required to win one of three cash prizes.
