MorseLife Health System Celebrates “Topping Off” Ceremony for The Levin Tower
West Palm Beach, Florida (PRWEB) November 19, 2016 -- With the cement poured to cover the final part of the roof of the Stephen and Petra Levin Tower, the newest and most luxurious senior residence in South Florida, MorseLife Health System celebrated at a “Topping Off” ceremony at the construction site on Thursday, November 10th at 2:00 pm on its suburban West Palm Beach campus.
The groundbreaking for the Levin Tower, named for lead capital campaign donors Stephen A. Levin, Chairman of MorseLife Health System and his wife Petra, was held one year ago. Construction has been non-stop since then, with the ten-story structure moving quickly toward completion, as it sits on the final nine acre parcel on the Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Seniors Campus of MorseLife.
Mr. Levin noted that the “Topping Off” ceremony is significant as “it marks an important milestone in the construction of the residence, and also turns the page on a journey which for 34 years has allowed us to forge new paths in improving lives of generations of seniors.”
Mr. Levin and his wife Petra provided a significant lead gift to this residence which bears their name and Mr. Levin also serves as Chairman for the capital campaign which made this project and others possible. “As the final phase of the $150 million capital project that also led to the building of the Mack Pavilion for Short-Term Rehabilitation, Memory Care Assisted Living and renovation of the nursing home, the Levin Tower represents the pinnacle in our continued progress over these years,” Levin said. “So many have joined us on this path as leaders, loyal friends and supporters, and the Levin Tower brings us all to another critical point in our long-standing commitment to our aging community."
Keith A. Myers, president/CEO of MorseLife Health System spoke of the economic impact of this project. “What is also significant is that the construction of the Levin Tower has resulted in the employment of 200 dedicated workers representing 54 trades and hundreds more vendors supporting their effort,” he said. “We thank them for their hard work.”
Myers also expressed appreciation to the board, donors and community for their support of the project. “In the Levin Tower, we have a wonderful opportunity to create a beautiful, luxurious and life-affirming residence for active seniors of our community,” he said. “We are fortunate that the Levin Tower has created great anticipation and demand, and we look forward to being at capacity well before our opening in late summer, 2017.”
The Levin Tower will offer 182 one and two bedroom apartments ranging in size from 900 to 1500 square feet, gourmet dining in its restaurant and bistro, wellness spa, outdoor pool, housekeeping, transportation, security and a full array of activities.
The construction company for the Tower is Whiting Turner Contracting Company, the architect is the firm of Perkins Eastman, and the lead bank providing funding is SunTrust.
