Mosca Introduces New Indexing Side-Seal Strapping System with Pallet Lance
Hazle Township, PA (PRWEB) March 31, 2015 -- EAM-Mosca Corporation is pleased to introduce the Model UHS-L side seal strapping system with pallet lance. Revealed at the Promat Exhibition, Chicago, IL last week, the UHS-L features the powerful, high-tension Sonixs strapping head proven in robust unitizer compression strapping systems and now available mounted vertically in a 60” (1500mm) wide x 72” (1830mm) to 108” (2750mm) high arch. The low maintenance UHS-L is designed to strap large packages and shipping units such as white goods, cabinetry, and office furniture. The pallet lance option enables strapping of conveyorized palletized loads through the pallet void.
According to Edward Martin, company vice president, “This new side sealing system with a pallet lance was developed due to customer demand. A similar system introduced last year was well-received in the marketplace but was missing a lance option. This new system builds on the success of the UHS and it’s a great addition to our product line.”
The UHS-L has a narrow profile that integrates easily into conveyor lines. The pallet lance at 60” is electrically driven and features several fail-safe measures. In addition to photo sensors to determine pallet void clearance prior to advancing, the lances are powered by a slip drive to protect the device, if an obstruction is encountered. Users can opt to bypass the lances with an optional pneumatically controlled under-pallet mode if required.
The system operates reliably with Polyester (PET) or Polypropylene (PP) strapping from 9mm to 12mm in width delivered by a floor mounted strap dispenser with spring assisted uncoiling. The UHS-L meets the needs of customers requiring high-tension and stronger straps for stabilizing pallet loads and un-palletized product units. The proprietary Sonixs sealer indexes pneumatically up to 18” to meet the incoming load to ensure tight straps. A sensor stops head advancement on contact to prevent product damage. Conveyor height can be easily adjusted on-site anywhere from 8” to 18” without requiring special tools or additional parts.
The UHS-L may be conveniently operated with a footswitch, pushbutton, or automatically via signal exchange with an external system controller. It features adjustable tension and a Siemens PLC with a pushbutton interface which controls all key operating functions. The strap track features a simple and reliable spring gate design with modular components which enables the company to build a track size best suited to customer requirements. Cycle speed ranges from 10 to 12 seconds/cycle depending on track and product size, not including pallet transport time.
At the core of the system is Mosca’s the Sonixs unitizer strapping head, which features DC direct drives for all strap feed, tensioning and sealing functions. The proprietary ultrasonic sealer supplies reliable strap seals with PP or PET without smoke by product. The sealed bearing construction eliminates the need for lubrication and protects the system from dust and dirt.
