Motorcyclist Killed by 18-Wheeler, Family Should Seek Lawyer
(PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- Police are investigating the circumstances around a late-night collision that cost a motorcyclist his life. The motorcyclist collided with an 18-wheeler tractor trailer and was killed. Motorcycle accident attorney Herb Auger says the victim's family may be owed compensation and that they should seek legal help immediately.
The accident happened at a complicated intersection where Marstellar Street, Front Street and a set of railroad tracks all come together around 11:30 Sunday night. The biker, John Calderone, was heading south on Front Street according to police, but the wreck happened on the tracks on Marstellar street, indicating that one or both of the vehicles was turning according to WECT article: Victim killed in overnight crash involving 18-wheeler and motorcycle identified (7.19.13).
Auger is the founder of Auger and Auger law firm and has frequently represented motorcyclists and their families. He says that bikers are often the most vulnerable people on the road and need to carefully guard their rights.
“We don't know what happened or who is at fault,” Auger said. “We do know that a biker lost his life, and if that's due in any part to the other driver's recklessness, justice must be served.”
Auger says that the law allows for compensation to the families of bikers killed in accidents
“That money can never restore the loss of a human life,” he said. “It is designed to help them with funeral costs, medical bills and the loss of income. The law says that whoever is at fault must pay.”
