Mount Pleasant Retirement Village resident awarded for 36 years of service to Boy Scouts of America
Monroe, OH (PRWEB) June 05, 2015 -- Mount Pleasant Retirement Village resident, Barb Chappell was recently recognized for 36 years of volunteer service to the Boy Scouts of America with the Ft. Hamilton District of the Dan Beard Council. Chappell began her scouting involvement in 1979 when she first served as a Den Leader. Since then, her volunteer service to scouting has included roles as committee chair, unit commissioner, treasurer of Troop 940, and a member of the Scouting Roundtable, and District Club Training Chair.
Her past scouting recognitions include an award for Meritorious Service, Award of Merit and the Cub Scout Wood Badge. In 1990, Chappell received the Silver Beaver Award, a national award in recognition for her service to the Ft. Hamilton District of the Dan Beard Council.
The ceremony was held on May 16 at the Savannah Center in West Chester, Ohio. Guest speakers included George Lang, president of the West Chester Township Board of Trustees; Lynda O’Connor, Ft. Hamilton District Committee Chair; Don Crain, 2013 Good Turn Daily recipient; Kenni Blache, Mid Pointe Library Board, West Chester; and Trey Ferris, former scout, Troop 940, West Chester.
Mount Pleasant resident, Betty Lou Nein said, "It was a wonderful program attended by close to 200 people, many of whom are well known in the community. Barb was very touched by the award."
