MountainJobs.com Poll Results: Access to Outdoor Activities Most Popular Reason for Living in Mountains
Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- From coast to coast, the mountains are attractive destinations for adventure, for pleasure, or for sheer recreation; whether it is for a ski weekend, a day hike, or simply some sightseeing, there are many reasons why tourists flock to the mountains, states MountainJobs.com. Tourists are not the only ones either, as seasonal workers and part-time employees are often necessary to keep mountain attractions up and running. All of this begs the question, however, of what truly attracts individuals to mountain environments. Answering the question is the team from MountainJobs.com; the company has just revealed the results of its most recent online poll, in a statement to the press.
“Some people live and work in the mountains part-time, perhaps manning summer chalets or helping out at ski resorts during the Christmas holidays,” comments MountainJobs.com manager Jason Kay, in the company’s new press statement. “Still others live there year-round, because they simply love being in the mountains. What we wanted to know is why. What is it that people most love about living in the mountains?”
This is precisely the question asked by the most recent MountainJobs.com poll—and the answers are a bit surprising. Close to half of the voters—44 percent—say that the most important thing about living in the mountains is having access to so many outdoor activities like skiing and mountain biking. “This is the most popular answer to the poll question, and it is not hard to figure out why,” Kay comments. “There is a diverse array of outdoor activities that are available in the mountains, ranging from snowboarding to hiking, camping, and mountain biking.”
The second most popular answer in the MountainJobs.com poll is natural beauty. This is followed by small town living. Furthermore, in last place—with just 5 percent of the vote—is the mountain climate.
“In the mountains, there is much to see and do, and that forms the most fundamental reason why people like to live in the mountains,” Kay summarizes. “The climate and the small town living may be nice, but they are certainly not the primary reasons why folks choose to live in mountainous areas.”
