Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad and Museum Launches Summer Train Rides
Elbe, WA (PRWEB) July 03, 2014 -- Elbe, WA (population 29) is prepared to welcome a record number of visitors this summer season as families and rail enthusiasts from near and far are expected to pour into the historic depot. The trains travel on sections of the Old Milwaukee Line through the forest and foothills south of Mount Rainier. The heritage railroad’s proximity to the Nisqually entrance of Mount Rainier National Park make the scenic train rides a popular activity for visitors looking to explore the region.
“We’re on track to experience record breaking attendance this year,” said Meilee Anderson, Sales and Marketing Director for the railroad. “Preseason ticket sales are at a record high in part due to bringing back annual favorite events like the summer BBQ trains, Rails to Ales and the Washington Wine Express. We also scheduled a new rootin’-tootin’ Western Train and toe-tapping Banjo Train with a concert by the Tacoma Banjo Club this summer,” said Anderson.
“This is a big year for the railroad and new museum,” said Wayne Rankin, Executive Director of the railroad and museum. “Our staff and volunteers have been hard at work preparing the new museum exhibits. It’s rewarding to offer visitors both an educational and entertaining experience. We especially look forward to our museum’s ribbon cutting ceremony on July 19.”

The Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad and Museum is a steam-powered heritage railroad operating in Washington State between the towns of Elbe and Mineral. This heritage railroad is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the longest continuously operating steam train railroad in the Pacific Northwest.
