Mt. Sierra College Announces a New Partnership with the Canadian Film and Television Institute and Tiedong Zhou to form a Film Institute at the Monrovia campus.
MONROVIA, CA (PRWEB) October 09, 2017 -- Mt. Sierra College has signed an agreement with Xiaomin (Demi) Zhang, President of the Canadian Film and Television Institute and Tiedong Zhou, President of Beijing Novo United Films Co. Ltd. The agreement is the beginning of a partnership that will form a Film Institute on the campus of Mt. Sierra College and make classes in Mt. Sierra’s Media Arts program available to students of the Canadian Film and Television Institute.

With our degree programs in those areas and our Monrovia location close to Burbank and Hollywood we are an ideal site for a film institute and Ms. Xiaomin (Demi) Zhang and Mr. Zhou bring an enormous amount of talent, experience and resources to this partnership,” College President Dr. Eric Tao said. The Institute’s primary focus will be on research and development.
Ms. Zhang is an acclaimed actress in Chinese cinema. She is president of the Canadian Film and Television Institute which is educating a new generation of actors and preparing them for international careers in film and television. Mr. Zhou will lead the Film Institute at Mt. Sierra College. He is a renowned author on the subject of film and the former general manager of Chinese Film Promotion International and the current president of Beijing Novo United Films Co. Ltd. which is one of the top five theater chains in China. His experience and knowledge of the international film business will give the new Film Institute a global perspective and reach. At over six billion in annual revenue, the Chinese film market is second only to the United States and may eclipse the U.S. market by 2019.
