MUM to host IACBE Business Educators Conference
Fairfield, Iowa (PRWEB) September 24, 2013 -- Maharishi University of Management will host the North Central Regional Conference of the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), Friday Sept. 27 at 11:15 AM Central time in the Festival Hall of the Argiro Student Center.
Conference host, Professor Scott R. Herriott, Ph.D., and co-chair of the Department of Business Administration at Maharishi University of Management says, “Business deans and department chairs greatly value the time they can spend with each other talking about common issues and challenges. Keynote speaker Paul Ventura of Marylhurst University will lead the Business Educators Conference with a workshop/free webinar on “Assessing Student Learning Outcomes in Sustainable Business.”
Paul Ventura is chair of the Marylhurst MBA in Sustainable Business program. He teaches courses in strategic leadership, modeling and decision making, and principles of sustainability in both the on-campus and online green MBA programs. He also oversees the capstone project that all students complete at the end of their MBA coursework.

Assessing Student Learning Outcomes in Sustainable Business
While a variety of instruments exist for assessing and norming student learning in conventional MBA programs, there is no widely-used tool for assessing the special knowledge and competencies acquired by students in programs with a focus on sustainable business practices. This workshop is intended to start a dialogue on what direct learning outcomes can and should be measured and how that measurement can take place. A case study on the process used in the MBA in Sustainable Business at Marylhurst University will be shared, followed by participant discussion of sustainability learning outcomes and their assessment.
This webinar is part of the regional meeting of the business accrediting body of IACBE. The seminar will be live-streamed from Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa. Online participants in the workshop will be able to share comments by online chat and will be able to call in to a miked phone in the conference meeting room.
