Murder Charge Dropped for Client of Fort Worth Criminal Defense Attorney Navid Alband
Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- Fort Worth Criminal Defense Attorney Navid Alband, of The Alband Law Firm, recently helped a client reach a major case victory--a dropped murder charge. Court records show that the defendant had been charged with murder after she fatally shot her boyfriend in March 2013.
According to the motion to dismiss (The State of Texas v. Lisenbe, Case No. CR13-0382 in the 43rd Judicial District Court of Parker County, Texas), prosecutors in this case asked the judge to dismiss the murder charge based on the fact that a polygraph test and other evidence supported her claim of self-defense, and this request was granted.
Court documents state that the 33-year-old woman told investigators that her 38-year-old boyfriend assaulted her and would not allow her to leave her Springtown-area home, where he was also living at the time. It was even reported that he knocked a phone out of her hand, which stopped her from calling anyone to help her.
According to legal documents, the woman claimed that she first fired a warning shot and then actually shot him as he was reaching for the gun. After the defendant took a polygraph test and the results corroborated her self-defense claim, the prosecutors in the case requested that the judge dismiss the murder charge and the request was granted, court records show.
A Dec. 16, 2013 article in the Weatherford Democrat (titled “Murder charge dropped in Springtown killing”) included comments by Attorney Alband, who represented the defendant in this case. The lawyer noted that the woman had claimed self-defense from the very beginning and that various aspects of the investigation (such as interviews, independent crime scene analysis and the polygraph test) showed continual consistencies in her story. Attorney Alband also stated in the article that the defense believes that the District Attorney reached the right conclusion. The securing of her freedom allowed attorney’s client to visit her mother, who was going through surgery.
