Murfreesboro Rescue Mission Announces it Is Participating in The Big Payback
Murfreesboro, Tenn. (PRWEB) March 29, 2015 -- Murfreesboro Rescue Mission is taking part in The Big Payback, a region-wide, 24-hour online giving event created to help Middle Tennessee nonprofits raise funds vital to continue their work, which directly improves the community around them.
The charitable event, sponsored by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and the Kharis Foundation, will begin at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5 and runs for 24 hours. Once the clock starts, anyone can visit TheBigPayback.org or Murfreesboro Rescue Mission’s website and make donations to Murfreesboro Rescue Mission and other participating nonprofits, including schools and religious institutions that serve the 40 counties of Middle Tennessee.
"Last year’s donations helped provide over 700 nights of emergency lodging for those who could not get into overcrowded homeless shelters. This year’s donations will help Murfreesboro Rescue Mission meet its desired goal of providing a newly needed shelter." – Ed Grimes/ MRM Executive Director
The inaugural event raised a remarkable $1,492,492.50 for 525 nonprofits last year. In one day’s time, more than 11,661 gifts were made. Nearly 30 percent of donations supported human services organizations; 12 percent to health; and 10 percent to organizations serving the arts.
Gifts from the public will be boosted with funds from sponsors of The Big Payback. Murfreesboro Rescue Mission will vie for financial incentives and additional prizes through the online leaderboard, which will track donations in real time.
